We are excited to announce that Denton Enterprise Airport is seeking public feedback on proposed updates to Chapter 3 of our Code of Ordinances and our Airport Rules and Regulations. These updates are designed to enhance safety, streamline operations, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
On Aug. 13, Airport staff gave a presentation to the Airport Advisory Board (AAB) on the benefits, focus, and timeline for these updates:
The draft updates, described below, are available for comment and feedback by Airport stakeholders. Once public feedback is received, Airport staff will make their final recommendations for approval by the AAB and Denton City Council.
Draft updates to Chapter 3 of the Code of Ordinances
Draft updates to Chapter 3 include removing outdated bylaw provisions, allowing certain lease provisions to be approved administratively, updating insurance requirements, replacing civil enforcement of code violations with Class C misdemeanors, and clarifying enforcement procedures.
Importantly, a number of new sections have been added so that violations may be tied to specific language in the Code of Ordinances.

Draft updates to the Airport Rules and Regulations
Draft updates to the Airport Rules and Regulations include removing references to documents no longer in use, easing restrictions on items stored in non-city-managed hangars, clarifying responsibilities regarding mowing and waste disposal, clarifying actions to be taken in emergencies or cases of airport property damage, updating certain provisions relating to pedestrians and vehicles, and adding new sections on perimeter fencing and special events.
These updates attempt to bring the rules and regulations into compliance with new state law, address ongoing operational issues, clarify responsibilities, and ease tenant restrictions where feasible.
